Predicting transitions in cooperation levels from network connectivity

چکیده

Networks determine our social circles and the way we cooperate with others. We know that topological features like hubs degree assortativity affect cooperation, cooperation is favoured if benefit of altruistic act divided by cost exceeds average number neighbours. However, a simple rule would predict transitions on an arbitrary network has not yet been presented. Here show unique sequence degrees in can be used to at which game parameters major shifts level expected, including phase from absorbing mixed strategy phases. use evolutionary prisoner's dilemma random scale-free networks demonstrate prediction, as well its limitations possible pitfalls. observe good agreements between predictions results obtained concurrent Monte Carlo methods for update strategies, thus providing fast estimate outcome dilemmas without need actually playing game.

Predicting fate from early connectivity in a social network.

In the long-tailed manakin (Chiroxiphia linearis), a long-lived tropical bird, early connectivity within a social network predicts male success an average of 4.8 years later. Long-tailed manakins have an unusual lek mating system in which pairs of unrelated males, at the top of complex overlapping teams of as many as 15 males, cooperate for obligate dual-male song and dance courtship displays. ...

Acinetobacter baumannii: Researchers\' Scientific Cooperation Network in Three Decades

Background and Objective: Acinetobacter baumannii is one of the most common challenging pathogens in causing serious infections in intensive care units of modern hospital systems around the world and poses a serious threat to public and patient health. This study aims to analyze the network of scientific and empirical collaborations of A. baumanniii researchers in the last three decades. Metho...

Predicting the Dynamics of Network Connectivity in the Neocortex.

Dynamic remodeling of connectivity is a fundamental feature of neocortical circuits. Unraveling the principles underlying these dynamics is essential for the understanding of how neuronal circuits give rise to computations. Moreover, as complete descriptions of the wiring diagram in cortical tissues are becoming available, deciphering the dynamic elements in these diagrams is crucial for relati...

Predicting human resting-state functional connectivity from structural connectivity.

In the cerebral cortex, the activity levels of neuronal populations are continuously fluctuating. When neuronal activity, as measured using functional MRI (fMRI), is temporally coherent across 2 populations, those populations are said to be functionally connected. Functional connectivity has previously been shown to correlate with structural (anatomical) connectivity patterns at an aggregate le...
